Safety
Warranty
The Seltos comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The NX’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.
Kia’s powertrain warranty covers the Seltos 4 years and 30,000 miles longer than Lexus covers the NX. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the NX ends after only 6 years or 70,000 miles.
There are over 3 times as many Kia dealers as there are Lexus dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Seltos’ warranty.
Fuel Economy and Range
On the EPA test cycle the Seltos gets better mileage than the NX running its gasoline engine:

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Kia Seltos uses regular unleaded gasoline. The NX 350 AWD requires premium, which can cost on average about 84.9 cents more per gallon.
Tires and Wheels
The Seltos X-Line SX’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the NX’s optional 50 series tires.
The Seltos offers an optional space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the NX; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed.
Suspension and Handling
For better maneuverability, the Seltos’ turning circle is 2.8 feet tighter than the NX’s (35.2 feet vs. 38 feet).
Chassis
The Kia Seltos may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 850 to 950 pounds less than the Lexus NX.
The Seltos is 9.1 inches shorter than the NX, making the Seltos easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.
The front grille of the Seltos uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The NX doesn’t offer active grille shutters.
Passenger Space
The Seltos has 2.2 inches more front headroom, .4 inches more front legroom, .2 inches more front shoulder room, .4 inches more rear headroom, 2.9 inches more rear legroom, 1.5 inches more rear hip room and 1.4 inches more rear shoulder room than the NX.
Cargo Capacity
The Seltos has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the NX with its rear seat up (27.8 vs. 22.7 cubic feet). The Seltos has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the NX with its rear seat folded (64.2 vs. 46.9 cubic feet).
Payload
The Seltos has a higher standard payload capacity than the NX (1223 vs. 1125 lbs.).
Ergonomics
The power windows standard on both the Seltos and the NX have locks to prevent small children from operating them. When the lock on the Seltos is engaged the driver can still operate all of the windows, for instance to close one opened by a child. The NX prevents the driver from operating the other windows just as it does the other passengers.
