Compare the2027 Kia EV3 VS 2027 Chevrolet Equinox EV

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the EV3’s standard Downhill Brake Control allows you to creep down safely. The Equinox EV doesn’t offer Downhill Brake Control.

Both the EV3 and the Equinox EV have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, front wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

The EV3 comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Equinox EV’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 2 years or 24,000 miles sooner.

Kia’s powertrain warranty covers the EV3 5 years and 40,000 miles longer than Chevrolet covers the Equinox EV. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Equinox EV ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2026 Auto Issue reports that Kia vehicles are more reliable than Chevrolet vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Kia 7 places higher in reliability than Chevrolet.

The EV3 GT’s electric motors produces 12 lbs.-ft. more torque (345 vs. 333) than the Equinox EV’s optional electric motors.

On the EPA test cycle the EV3 gets better mileage than the Equinox EV:

The EV3 Wind/Land FWD can travel longer on a full charge than the Equinox EV FWD (321 miles vs. 319 miles).

The EV3 has a standard locking charge port, which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The Equinox EV doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

The EV3 GT’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Equinox EV doesn’t offer launch control.

For better stopping power the EV3 4x4’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the Equinox EV:

For better maneuverability, the EV3’s turning circle is 4.1 feet tighter than the Equinox EV’s (34 feet vs. 38.1 feet).

The Kia EV3 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 600 to 950 pounds less than the Chevrolet Equinox EV.

The EV3 Light/Wind/Land is 1 foot, 9.3 inches shorter than the Equinox EV, making the EV3 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The front grille of the EV3 uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Equinox EV doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The EV3 has .8 inches more front headroom and 2.3 inches more rear hip room than the Equinox EV.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the EV3’s rear seats recline. The Equinox EV’s rear seats don’t recline.

Maximum trailer towing in the Chevrolet Equinox EV is limited to 1500 pounds. The EV3 4x4 offers up to a 2000 lbs. towing capacity.

A maintenance reminder system is standard on the EV3 to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals based on odometer mileage. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Chevrolet doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the Equinox EV.

The EV3’s front power windows open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Equinox EV’s standard power window switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully. The Equinox EV’s optional front passenger window doesn’t close automatically.

The EV3’s standard outside mirrors include heating elements to clear off the mirrors for better visibility. Chevrolet charges extra for heated mirrors on the Equinox EV.

Both the Kia EV3 and Chevrolet Equinox EV offer exterior mirrors that can be folded to provide convenience. The EV3 offers available power folding mirrors, which allow for easy, one-touch folding or unfolding at the driver’s discretion. This provides added convenience when maneuvering or parking, as well as when walking past the parked vehicle. In comparison, the Equinox EV’s foldable mirrors are manual, requiring the driver to get out and physically fold them once parked and unfold them before getting in.

The EV3 has a standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. Dual zone air conditioning costs extra on the Equinox EV.

The EV3 GT’s Smart Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Smart Parking Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Equinox EV’s automatic parking system does not offer parking by remote control.
