Safety

For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Kia EV3 have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Ford Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the EV3’s standard Downhill Brake Control allows you to creep down safely. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer Downhill Brake Control.

Both the EV3 and the Mustang Mach-E have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

Warranty

The EV3 comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Mustang Mach-E’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 2 years or 24,000 miles sooner.

Kia’s powertrain warranty covers the EV3 5 years and 40,000 miles longer than Ford covers the Mustang Mach-E. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Mustang Mach-E ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Kia vehicles are better in initial quality than Ford vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Kia above average in initial quality. With 12 more problems per 100 vehicles, Ford is rated below average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Kia vehicles are more reliable than Ford vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Kia above average in long-term dependability. With 12 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Ford is rated below average.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2026 Auto Issue reports that Kia vehicles are more reliable than Ford vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Kia 1 place higher in reliability than Ford.

The EV3 has a standard locking charge port, which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

Transmission

The EV3 GT’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer launch control.

Suspension and Handling

For better maneuverability, the EV3’s turning circle is 4.1 feet tighter than the Mustang Mach-E’s (34 feet vs. 38.1 feet).

For greater off-road capability the EV3 Wind/Land has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Mustang Mach-E (5.9 vs. 5.8 inches), allowing the EV3 to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The EV3 GT-Line’s minimum ground clearance is .4 inch higher than on the Mustang Mach-E (6.2 vs. 5.8 inches).

Chassis

The Kia EV3 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 550 pounds less than the Ford Mustang Mach-E.

The EV3 Light/Wind/Land is 1 foot, 4.3 inches shorter than the Mustang Mach-E Select/Premium, making the EV3 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

Passenger Space

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the EV3’s rear seats recline. The Mustang Mach-E’s rear seats don’t recline.

Cargo Capacity

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the EV3 Land/GT-Line/GT’s liftgate can be opened just by waiting momentarily behind the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

Towing

The EV3 has a 1500 lbs. towing capacity. The Mustang Mach-E has no towing capacity.

Servicing Ease

A maintenance reminder system is standard on the EV3 to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals based on odometer mileage. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer. Ford doesn’t offer a maintenance reminder on the Mustang Mach-E.

Ergonomics

The EV3 GT has a standard heads-up display that projects speed, navigation instruction and driver assistance information readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Mustang Mach-E doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

When the EV3 Land/GT-Line/GT is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The Mustang Mach-E’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

The EV3 GT’s Smart Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Smart Parking Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Mustang Mach-E’s automatic parking system does not offer parking by remote control.
