Safety

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the EV3 are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The EV3 Land/GT-Line/GT has standard Parking Collision-Avoidance Reverse that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

Both the EV3 and the Macan Electric have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

Warranty

The EV3 comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Macan Electric’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Kia’s powertrain warranty covers the EV3 6 years and 50,000 miles longer than Porsche covers the Macan Electric. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Macan Electric ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are almost 4 times as many Kia dealers as there are Porsche dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the EV3’s warranty.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Kia vehicles are better in initial quality than Porsche vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Kia above average in initial quality. With 7 more problems per 100 vehicles, Porsche is rated lower.

Suspension and Handling

For better maneuverability, the EV3’s turning circle is 5.7 feet tighter than the Macan Electric’s (34 feet vs. 39.7 feet).

Chassis

The Kia EV3 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 950 to 1150 pounds less than the Porsche Macan Electric.

The EV3 Light/Wind/Land is 1 foot, 7 inches shorter than the Macan Electric, making the EV3 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

Passenger Space

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the EV3’s rear seats recline. The Macan Electric’s rear seats don’t recline.

Cargo Capacity

The EV3 has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Macan Electric with its rear seat up (26.1 vs. 22.1 cubic feet). The EV3 has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Macan Electric with its rear seat folded (56.5 vs. 50.6 cubic feet).

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the EV3 Land/GT-Line/GT’s liftgate can be opened just by waiting momentarily behind the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

Ergonomics

The EV3 has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the EV3 has a standard rear wiper. A rear wiper costs extra on the Macan Electric.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the EV3 has standard extendable sun visors. The Macan Electric doesn’t offer extendable visors.
