Safety

The EV3 offers all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The Bolt doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

Both the EV3 and the Bolt have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, front wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

Warranty

The EV3 comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Bolt’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 2 years or 24,000 miles sooner.

Kia’s powertrain warranty covers the EV3 5 years and 40,000 miles longer than Chevrolet covers the Bolt. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Bolt ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

Reliability

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2026 Auto Issue reports that Kia vehicles are more reliable than Chevrolet vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Kia 7 places higher in reliability than Chevrolet.

Engine

The EV3’s standard electric motor produces 40 lbs.-ft. more torque (209 vs. 169) than the Bolt’s electric motor. The EV3’s optional electric motors produces 51 more horsepower (261 vs. 210) and 115 lbs.-ft. more torque (284 vs. 169) than the Bolt’s electric motor. The EV3 GT’s standard electric motors produces 78 more horsepower (288 vs. 210) and 176 lbs.-ft. more torque (345 vs. 169) than the Bolt’s electric motor.

The EV3 has a standard locking charge port, which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The Bolt doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

Transmission

The EV3 GT’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Bolt doesn’t offer launch control.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the EV3 GT-Line/GT’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Bolt (235/45R19 vs. 215/50R17).

The EV3 GT-Line/GT’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Bolt’s 50 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the EV3 GT-Line/GT has standard 19-inch wheels. The Bolt’s largest wheels are only 17-inches.

Suspension and Handling

For superior ride and handling, the Kia EV3 has fully independent front and rear suspensions. An independent suspension allows the wheels to follow the road at the best angle for gripping the pavement, without compromising ride comfort. The Chevrolet Bolt has a rear torsion beam axle, with a semi-independent rear suspension.

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the EV3 is 3.9 inches wider in the front and 3.7 inches wider in the rear than the track on the Bolt.

For better maneuverability, the EV3’s turning circle is 3.7 feet tighter than the Bolt’s (34 feet vs. 37.7 feet).

For greater off-road capability the EV3 Wind/Land has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Bolt (5.9 vs. 5.6 inches), allowing the EV3 to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The EV3 GT-Line’s minimum ground clearance is .6 inch higher than on the Bolt (6.2 vs. 5.6 inches).

Passenger Space

The EV3 has 3.1 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Bolt (99.7 vs. 96.6).

The EV3 has 3.4 inches more front hip room, 2.2 inches more front shoulder room, 2.9 inches more rear hip room and 3.1 inches more rear shoulder room than the Bolt.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the EV3’s rear seats recline. The Bolt’s rear seats don’t recline.

Cargo Capacity

The EV3 has a much larger cargo volume than the Bolt with its rear seat up (26.1 vs. 16.2 cubic feet).

To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier, especially for short adults, the EV3 has a standard power liftgate, which opens and closes automatically by pressing a button, or on the EV3 Land/GT-Line/GT, by just waiting momentarily behind the back bumper, completely leaving your hands free. The Bolt doesn’t offer a power cargo door.

Towing

The EV3 has a 1500 lbs. towing capacity. The Bolt has no towing capacity.

Ergonomics

When two different drivers share the EV3 Land/GT-Line/GT, the memory seats and mirrors make it convenient for both. Each setting activates different, customized memories for the driver’s seat position and outside mirror angle. The Bolt doesn’t offer a memory system.

The EV3 Land/GT-Line/GT’s standard easy entry system glides the driver’s seat back when the door is unlocked or the ignition is switched off, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The Bolt doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

The EV3 GT has a standard heads-up display that projects speed, navigation instruction and driver assistance information readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Bolt doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The EV3’s front power windows open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Bolt’s front passenger window doesn’t close automatically.

When the EV3 Land/GT-Line/GT is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The Bolt’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

Both the Kia EV3 and Chevrolet Bolt offer exterior mirrors that can be folded to provide convenience. The EV3 offers available power folding mirrors, which allow for easy, one-touch folding or unfolding at the driver’s discretion. This provides added convenience when maneuvering or parking, as well as when walking past the parked vehicle. In comparison, the Bolt’s foldable mirrors are manual, requiring the driver to get out and physically fold them once parked and unfold them before getting in.

The EV3’s standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. The Bolt doesn’t offer dual zone air conditioning.

The EV3 GT’s Smart Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Smart Parking Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Bolt doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
